All Things Barbra: A Barbra Streisand Tribute

Developing a "Streisand" act has been a natual progression for Joan Rose. She first appeared in dance bands throughout Florida, and fronted a band that did a "Command Touring Show" for the US Army in Germany, Belgium, Holland, and Saudi Arabia. This evolved into a popular "single" act in which she backed her four octave voice on piano and guitar. During this phase of her career in South Florida, it wasn't unusual for someone to walk up to her and say, "has anyone told you, you look like Barbra Streisand?" This happened often and vocal comparisons would follow. After going to a masquerade party as Barbra, she started developing her Barbra persona. An intense immersion into "all things Barbra" followed as Joan studied every nuance of Barbra's voice and presence. Since then people have been amazed and often fooled by her uncanny resemblance in looks and striking vocal abilities. Come sing along to "all things Barbra" this December at the Boca Black Box!
